There are three options available through Missoula Early Head Start: Home-Based, Center-Based and Prenatal.

The Home-Based option is designed for families who have the ability to spend time at home with their child. This option focuses on child development and parent-child interaction through weekly home-visits. Parents/guardians also come together two times per month at Missoula Early Head Start for a Parent-Child Interaction group to play with their children, discuss child development and share a meal.

The Prenatal option is designed to offer as-needed weekly home visits on health, wellness & nutrition and one monthly group session at the Center for pregnant mothers. Newborns may transition into the Home-Based option and are eligible to apply for a transition to the Center-based program at 6 weeks old.

The Center-Based option provides full-day child care services and parent involvement activities for 16 children and their families. Center-based families have two home visits and two information-sharing meeting with their Infant/Toddler Teacher each year. Families must be working or in school 30 hours per week to qualify for the Center-Based option.

We have 16 Center-Based spaces and the waitlist can be competitive. Families in our Home-Based program receive addition points when on the waitlist for Center, therefore we encourage families to apply for our Home-Based program when seeking a space in Center.
